What's better than a Museum? A Free Museum

07-04-2010 om 10:00 by Amanda Potter

129Last year Dan & I missed out on Museum Weekend’s excellent deal of free admission to hundreds of museums around the Netherlands (we discovered an advertisement 2 days after the weekend). This year? We’re probably going to miss it again. But that doesn’t mean you should. The deal is simple: on 10 April & 11 April, you can get free entry to participating museums. While the majority of participating institutions may be outside of Limburg, there are still 15 museums around the region for you to visit and enjoy.

To make the most of Museum Weekend, think location and expense. If I was planning on doing two good days of museum visits here’s what I’d do.  Art museums are usually more expensive than the others, and I like modern art, so I’d focus on visiting those museums. Since they are all over the place, I would consider visiting the two in Valkenburg one day and then the next day visit two in relatively close proximity each other. Fortunately Limburg isn’t too big or expensive to travel around in by train. If, like us, you're busy this weekend you can pick up a Museum Card for a year's access to many of the same museums.

Here is a quick list of the museums in Limburg participating this year in Museum Weekend:
